At what CKD stage does urine foam occur?

I have CKD 3b and think I am seeing urine foam. But maybe it only occurs in end stage?

Proteinuria can happen at any stage, it might get worse as later stages. It's any easy test, if you are concern ask your primary doctor for a lab.

I never had foam in my urine. I don't think that it is a symptom that everyone has, even with a large amount of protein in your urine - doesn't cause foam to form.

I was diagnosed in 1992, and a kidney transplant in 1999. I am living well 23 1/2 years post transplant

With out getting too technical, I think it depends on how one passes water.

For us boys: If it looks like beer and doesn't go away --> Proteinuria.

Not all ckd patients have proteinuria, it depends on the specifics of your kidney disease, and varies with exercise, hydration, diet. You should search for foam on this forum, I remember some good exchanges from a year or more ago, and google it to see some examples.

A UTI can cause foamy urine, also kidney stones, and kidney stones can cause a UTI.
