HI Chimama,

They are actually what they say they are. Seeds. I used Chia/Flax seed blend on my oatmeal. I used a full tablespoon. I also used to put them on my salads for a crunch. I was limiting my protein intake, and so I cut down on using them. They also add calories and protein and potassium. So, if you limit those things, be careful. They are great for moving things along, if you get my point.

I buy organic flaxseeds from Amazon, then grind them down. I believe they are better when ground down. Then put in the fridge. I make flaxseed crackers which are low carb. They are an acquired taste but they really fill me up!

Hi Chimama,

I buy Organic Chia Seeds either at Whole Foods Market or Walmart and a tbsp. of them to my cup of Greek Yogurt, eaten over 2 days. So they soften in the yogurt.

My nephrologist recommended them as they are said to add slight protein, help reduce cholesterol, improve digestion.

I also take 2000mg of flaxseed liquid gels daily for the same and have no issue.

Hope this helps!

Bet

You get the ground flax seed it is in the baking section with the flours and alternative flours. You sprinkle in I. Your oatmeal or on a salad. You can also find ghia seeds. It is an alternative to Metamucil. Google it and recipies to use. I prefer using the ground or milled flax seed. When using this seed let it soak first for 5 to ten minutes it leaves a gelatinous residue. You can make a good tasting ghia seed pudding to. They are the seeds from their respective plants. They add fiber for better elimination Drink plenty of water too

I always buy whole and grind it in a little coffee grinder (bought for $20-$30) as its fresher. Ground flax/chia loses some of its nutritional value and can go rancid quicker when ground. I eat lots of different hot cereals and add flax or chia to all of them plus, add it to my fruit smoothies And even put ground flax or chia in my homemade bread. So hard having stage 4 PKD constantly dealing with high potassium in the diet. Stay positive!😎

I use them in my overnight oats. 1/4 cup old fashioned oats, 1/4 cup almond milk, 1 TB (or so) of Greek Yogurt, maybe a blob of honey, and a tsp of Chia seeds. Put this in the fridge overnight and when you get up in the morning breakfast is ready. Typically people put fruit on top of this mixture but I like mine plain.

I use chia seeds & flax seeds in my oatmeal & smoothies. The chia seeds have a little protein & lots of fiber. The flax seeds have omega 3’s & fiber. The flax seed must be ground or it just passes right through your system whole.
