Just met the nicest guy who is on dialysis. He has a distinctive smell that is I am sure related to toxins from the inability of his body to expel them between dialysis treatments. I want to help him with this. I don't want to offend him but don't know how to discuss it or if there is any remedy for it. Has anyone here found a remedy for it? Looking for suggestions.

I was on dialysis for 5 months and dont remember any body odor. That was 27 years ago, I am now stage 5 and not on dialysis, and I still have no odor. It probably boils down to the old saying "you are what you eat". We used to use sweet Vidalia onions in cooking, which we cant find anymore. The new sweet onions grown here i n Texas are strong and stinky.
I had to ask my husband to quit eating them on his sandwiches because it made his breath stink to high heaven! And they also stunk up the house after he sliced into them. What you are smelling is probably due to what that man is eating.
Hi not sure about the body odour but guessing that unless/ until he gets a transplant not sure anything will rid it.I had a transplant 6 weeks ago and for months prior to that I could taste metal and ammonia in my mouth. Didn't matter what I did ie teeth brushing. Gum it was there. Had my transplant and vanished over night.
He will know about the smell too x
Is this due to body odour from the UNWASHED armpits (axillae) due to smelly, stale sweat acted on by bacteria?
Many people never wash properly in that region particularly active teenagers!
Armpits (axillae) contain a huge number of sweat glands and this patient may have neglected his personal hygiene?🧐
In that area?
He may need help with his personal hygiene?
OR is this smell different?
Is it a different odour entirely?
You/he need to find out what these molecules are!
Is it pungent AMMONIA?
Is it stale urine from stained underwear/briefs?
Has he got urinary/faecal sporadic incontinence?
Do his clothes smell?
