Wanting info about symptoms post surgery after removal of one kidney with cancerous tumor.

Has anyone else experienced burning in their colon after having a kidney removed?

Has anyone else experienced phantom pain where the missing kidney was?

Can't answer for the colon pain, but the phantom kidney pain has to do with the nerves in that area. Whether removing a kidney or having a transplant nerves and muscles in the area are disturbed. Takes awhile for the nerves to settle down

I had mine removed last year (not believed to be cancerous). Did you checked with your medical team whether the colon pain might be a sign of infection?

I would also check with my medical team before trying anything. I believe that most thing I tried (different types of massages mostly) were not recommended should there be concern for cancer. It doesn't mean that you can't do/try anything just that you need to know what they can and cannot do. AFAIK some antibiotics may affect the gut health negatively and it's possible that probiotics be beneficial but check first.

I think I had some leftover inflammation more than phantom pain from where the kidney was and even 9 months later there is still a very minor element of my body still reacting to that surgery. A little something not entirely relaxed in there but it feels like it's slowly improving.

While doing some weight training really helped my core strengthen and become functional again, I still can find some weird angle sometimes where my core feels weak. All I do is generally stop much sooner than later and give myself extra extra rest before trying again in 2 days under the assumption that I had found a weak angle that needed to get stronger. Last one was when I was swigning a sledgehammer.

For what I have seen on this forum the level of physical activity that you can perform can vary greatly and you cannot compare yourself with someone else. Do what you can and I found that I had to go extra extra slow and give myself extra rest. 3-4 months after surgery when I tried a slightly heavier weight it fatigued my nervous system to a point where I would go to sleep after a workout that wasn't that intense ... I merely went to bed right after my workout and what mattered was that I was able to recover and I could see sign of positive adaptation. It's all that mattered to me. Something as simple and inexpensive as a tubing set that can be bought on amazon can be very effective at rebuilding strenght.

Also, while I wouldn't say to anyone that they must buy one I found that managing the amount of cardio was more tricky than I expected and the best tool in my arsenal at managing the amount of fatigue is a chest strap (hr monitor).
