Hi my ckd friends, My recent abdominal CT for transplant evaluation discovered 5 mm ground glass opacity nodularity in the lower left lingual. Report said to consider 3 to 6 month follow-up CT scan. Still waiting to hear from the transplant team.Has anyone else encountered this? How did it affect the progression of your transplant activation? What was the outcome? It seems like no matter what it’s always something for me. Just one road block after another! I have to admit I am extremely stressed out and I’m getting worn down and tired. I don’t think I have 3 to 6 months being at GFR of 10 so now I am bracing myself for dialysis. Grateful at least it’s an option and hoping this new finding is nothing to worry about. Ugh!!
thanks so much for your support.

Were/are you a smoker? I was and i've had this show up from time to time. I do have COPD. What did your doctor say? I would suggest you check in with a pulmonologist to see what he has to say.
Thanks for your reply! I’m not a smoker. What happens to these lesions when they show up on your lungs? Do they just disappear after a while? The transplant nurse got back to me and she’s going to try to get me active on the list as soon as I talk to the social worker in a few weeks. She said the connection for the new kidney is all good and that it’s common to have small nodes show up on ct scans. She said they will repeat the scan in three months to check for stability possibly when I’m being admitted for a kidney offer. Hoping and praying this thing, whatever it is, remains stable or goes away entirely!
Sometimes they go away, some get bigger or smaller. It's some damage from infection, pneumonia or just because, maybe 2nd hand smoke? It's smart to keep an eye on it. Would suggest you consult a pulmonologist to make sure. I'm not clear on how big 5mm is but am thinking it's pretty small. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
I full undertsand your frustration. Going and remain eligible for transplant is kind of never ending. However not said this lung problem will be a roadblock and not said how long you will last at 10 gfr. Never loose hope and never give up.
I'm an ex smoker. I quit 27 years ago. I have lung nodules. I get periodic CTs to make sure they are stable. They haven't grown. I'm on the transplant list. My Dr. tells me they are common and non cancerous.
Have you had/got Covid? A ground glass appearance in the lungs can be a result of Covid. I had a bad reaction to Methotrexate and the doctors were sure I had Covid. Tested and tested but all negative.
