A major side effect of a Covid illness is deteriorating GFR. I am on a one way ticket to the dialysis chair thanks to a bout of Covid in early 2020. This is problem is a really “long” Covid.

KIDNEY & COVID
Many of us with Chronic Kidney Disease have slowed down the progression with prescribed diet and exercise. Best to contact your Doctor about a presribed diet, based on your bloodwork. There is hope.
Unfortunately that doesn't work for everyone. I have MUC 1 mutation kidney disease and it doesn't respond to anything at all. A vegan diet actually made me worse
Sorry to hear that you have a rare kidney disease. Wish you the best and hope your Nephrologist can be of help.
Hi, I also have MUC 1 ADTKD. I’ve put aside my love for meat and have been eating mostly plant based for the last 15 months. At first, my gfr increased by a few points and I felt a bit better but who knows if it was the diet or just the way this form of ckd progresses-down a few points, up a few pts than down a few pts and that becomes the new normal gfr for a while. The no meat thing has definitely made my anemia worse. What has your experience been?
I had Covid over New Year's. Was really bad for three days. My GFR actually went up a few points. Lucked out, I guess.
Yes, true. That being said it is generally considered "acute" kidney injury (aki) meaning the kidneys can recover to normal or near normal. . . .with time. Wish you the best. Blessings
I got covid in August of 2021.irreversible kidney damage I'm at 3b and holding .I go for labs in june
Both times I had Covid my gfr dropped, the first time 6 points, the second 8.5. It recovered in about 3-6 months each time. I was triple, now quadruple vaxed, eat plant-based, and I am otherwise pretty healthy. So it is possible to bounce back.
