I'm 93 years old and have been incontinet for a year now.

My primary doctor is handling my health issues.

She has prescribed Myrbetrio er 28 mg tablets to slow my urine output.

Is there a good reason to slow my urine output?

Pricella,We would not be able to give you an answer. Why are you concerned? Do you have CKD or other issues that would be impacted? These are all questions to ask you doctor.

My primary Doctor has not said I have kidney disease. She does'nt know why I have Incontinence. She believes lowering my urine output would help me.

Incontinence and Kidney Disease are two different things. This group is for people with chronic kidney disease. Urinary incontinence is a common problem for older women. Here is an article that may help you figure out the cause. nia.nih.gov/health/urinary-....

That's a good question. It sounds like she is treating the symptom but not the cause. Ask her what is causing the incontinence? You are elderly & not a young person who can rely on symptomatic treatments. You want to treat the cause.

Hi there Pricella! I understand your concern. I can only say that, if it were me, I would speak to her (your doctor) and ask her if this medication could impact any other areas, or your organs (mainly kidneys) in a harmful way. I’m speaking as one who suffers from edema (excessive fluid retention) from poor functioning kidneys. I can tell you it’s no fun at all when you have to carry around excess fluid and experience difficulty breathing that comes along with that issue. You don’t want to be there, believe me. I would give anything to be urinating more frequently than not enough. Maybe my edema issues have caused my bias here. Lol! Please do speak to your doctor about any concerns you have with this medication. Some meds can do harm. I wish you all my best dear. And do keep us posted as to how you come along. God bless. 😊👍🙏

If it is for the bladder not the kidney then it is fine. Clarify that with doctor
