Appearance of urine is scaring me - please help!

Female and I am in the process of being diagnosed with CKD at 47 years old: cause unknown. I have no symptoms other than a powdery, rolling substance that appears in my urine output daily.

More obvious the darker in color my urine output is, and hardly noticeable the lighter in color my urine is. I have had a couple of urinalysises done since March of this year and nothing remarkable has been found. The last one was about 6 weeks ago.

Since this phenomenon comes and goes, I do not know what to do. Any suggestions?

Hi SMM62,

Has anyone checked for infection? It may be a UTI. Have you had lab tests done to determine your GFR and creatinine levels? You say your are in the process of being diagnosed. What does your doctor say it is?

Hi, Bassetmommer -

I did have a urinalysis in May. I had another one run this morning but noted that the urine sample was clear (the hazy/sediment comes and goes and seems to be present when I am not perfectly hydrated).

Yes, I had eGFR/creatinine done in March, April, May - - but I was on the diuretic Sprinolactone for March and April so now they are redoing the tests without it in my system (I was taken off of it May 8). The eGFR on May 25 was 56 so I am hoping it will be back in the 60s next week.

My doctor just said run the urinalysis whenever I am concerned so he gave me a standing order. My issue is that the haze/sediment comes and goes. It is not consistent whatsoever.

Thank you for taking a moment to reply. I am appreciative.

I just went online and checked for my urine results - they are reporting Hemoglobin as +1 (this was not present in end of May analysis)

sounds like a low grade UTI or maybe yeast infection....when was your last visit to Gynocologist ?

Urinalysis (from yesterday) shows nothing. I have an appointment this afternoon and am going to ask for them to physically take a swab.

Thanks for the reply.

Now I am worried about what they will prescribe and how it will affect my kidneys.

I hope you r taking 24 hr samples the way it should be. Try n take spot sample when u see frothy urine. Take adequate water.

No one has asked for 24 hr samples. No froth.

Low grade bacterial infection and yeast infection were diagnosed three weeks ago. Medications taken. Still have both the yeast and bacterial infections 😑😒☹️

if bacterial, not to worry, but do see your doc. Take enough water. has infection reduced after meds.?

infection has reduced but something is clearly amiss as the sediment remains. Still trying to track it down. Thanks for your reply.

When your urine is clear like water everytime you urinate and never changes colors. That is the danger sign. It is almost normal to have dark urine and drinking extra water can clear that up...unless there is blood in it then that is a whole different issue. But clear clear no color at all is danger zone. My son has been in renal failure for 12 years he knows everything about it.

Keep hydrated that was the only thing I learnt from my Doctor, after medication next meds is water.
