I'm a new member here, but I have long experience with CKD. I notice a lot of questions on here that, while valid for discussion in the group, should at least be run by the patients Nephrologist.
I feel like many of you are not able to get all your answers that you need from your Nephrologist. For many years I had a nephrologist that I couldn't get answers from. The office didn't pass along messages or return calls and the Dr didn't have "On Call" so ER staff couldn't contact them either. I would take notes into appointments, but they were such a whirlwind I would forget to look at it etc.
I recently switched to a new Nephrologist in a large practice (8 Drs, several ANPs, and plenty of medical assistants). This practice has an On-Line Portal, which makes checking labs, verifying appointments, and messaging the Dr very easy.
My point is, that if you are not getting answers from your Nephrologist, it might be good to shop around and find one who can be attentive to your needs.
