FINDING A NEPHROLOGIST

I live in Canada and I cannot get a referral to a nephrologist because I only have stage 3B CKD.

However, I notice that some of you from the US have been able to get a nephrologist on Stage 3. Lucky you!

Are there nephrologists that take patients online? with stage 3B?

I would assume there must be some......

Mine does telehealth but not sure if he would accept your insurance. Do you have insurance in Canada?

I do have insurance but i doubt i would get much reimbursement from a US doctor. I will first try a Canadian doctor, Thanks for your response.

Isn't your primary care Dr. following your CKD? I wasn't referred until Stage 4 and that is typical or so the Neph. told me. It depends on the cause of your CKD. If you also have Diabetes, Hypertension, or other medical problems it is more important to be seen sooner. Can you at least get a referral for a Renal Dietician? Follow a plant based diet and take care of yourself while you try to get a referral. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I do not have diabetes or High blood pressure, no other disease. I now have a referral to a renal dietition and am on a plant based diet.. Thanks.....
