Warfarin
You have reached a forum for sharing and support for Chronic Kidney Disease. Are you asking if these medicines can effect your kidneys?
Hi Alfonzoa, To answer your question, heparin is a fast-acting anticoagulating drug. Much like coumadin and warfarin which are longer - lasting and take time to work. I would ask your doctor but a tia would not have been caused by the heparin. If anything, it would have helped as it dilutes the blood to stop clots.
Heparin injections are usually given as a "bridge" medication when warfarin cannot be be used for a few days or weeks. I normally take warfarin but if I need a procedure or surgery I'm given Lovenox or Heparin injections as a bridge until I can resume warfarin. It is designed to keep blood at a certain level of thin-ness without causing clots. Hope this helps. Blessings
