Has anyone with a condition have tried Grass Fed Beef Kidney supplements or eating cooked beef kidney to improve kidney function? This is based on the theory of native americans that cured organ issues eating the matching animal organs, i dont want to advocate or promote any brand but it would be easy for anyone to lookup any of these supps and check and it might be helpful for someone to try out.

I suppose the science would have to be pointing in this direction. If not science then what kind of steer (if you'll excuse the pun) would we have? The native Americans life expectancy was probably a good deal less than our own significantly-science led approach. Not an absolute measure but some kind of useful measure.

Is there any robust science to support the idea?

I don't know if eating Grass Fed Beef Kidney supplements or eating cooked beef kidneys to improve kidney function is a good idea.

This is something to think about; the Arizona Department of Health Services reported that the average life expectancy for American Indians is just 59, compared to 77 for the state as a whole. 🥺

Likely the ongoing result of the manner in which their land was violently taken from them. Any people subjected to that ongoing experience could be expected to have a shortened life expectancy.

Imagine the internal stress of being screwed over by the white man, regularly and unrelentingly right up to the present day. God forbid they find something worth digging up under your 'reservation'.

Australian indigenous do a lot better. Males have a life expectancy of only 10 years less than their white counterparts

Exactly……it’s really sad😢

I would assume that these beef supplements break down the same way beef does, which is hard on the kidneys.

Given 'everything between the lips and arsehole' is considered (or can somehow be flogged with the notion of it being) beef, you are probably right*. Beef kidney probably contra the science indicating a low protein plant based diet as optimal.

I am not aware of any evidence supporting this. AFAIK organs such as kidney and liver are nutritional powerhouse, low in fat and high in cholesterol. Grass fed generally but not always mean higher quality and is nowhere close to the quality that natives had access for thousands of years.

It's your decision and I recommend that you talk with a renal dietician about this first. If you enjoy it they might allow a smaller portion and perhaps less than more often. It is something that I might eat in very small quantity a few times a year and I think it's healthier than a hot dog. But that doesn't make it a food of choice for CKD. It probably isn't.

Yes beef or veal kidney is very delicious . If you slice the kidney real thin , put minced garlic & some cumin & salt to taste.Fry very lightly in some olive oil . Delicious & good for you.

Many cultures eat kidneys , depends on the recipe. Hope you enjoy it. We grew up eating kidney sandwiches done with the above recipe. Don’t fry for too long because you want to keep the moisture in😊

Beef kidney contain many vitamins but the best thing is to consult your renal dietician.

Not sure about the difference between eating a piece of beef and eating a beef kidney. Many on this site have been able to stabilize their eGFR by limiting their protein in their diet. I would run that past a renal dietician. The idea is to help your kidney function for as long as possible with changes to your diet. Beef is not considered a good diet choice for those that have CKD. Many articles discussing the pros of eating organ meat is a bunch of "bull", excuse the pun, for anyone with CKD. Talk with your nephrologist and renal dietician - get the facts from them.
