Covid19 Pfizer vaccine and IgA nephropathy

Hey just wanna see what are the thoughts around getting vaccine if you have Iga nephropathy in particular… I m just cautious to see if the inflammation response of the vaccine may flare up the Iga response resulting in more proteinuria or worsening of the disease by any chance ?!

Obviously the complications of getting covid19 disease on kidney is much worse. There are one or two reports of some side effects of vaccine but generally most datas i m finding says its safe. Just wanna know what other people been advised

Thanks so much

Hi Maryam,

My recommendation if you have any concerns about this vaccination is to check with your nephrologist as he/ she knows your case best.

I am a Membraneous Nephropathy patient, which is also an autoimmune kidney disorder.

I have had the Pfizer vaccination with no issue.

A bit of a sore arm after the shot both times; keeping hydrated as directed by the administering professional and felt fine 48 hours after.

Again, when in doubt, ask your doctor.

Reach back and let me know how you are doing. I care.

Please do let me know. The vaccine protects you in case you do contract the virus, so your case is lesser.

You could also call your GP and see what he/ she says. Benefits outweigh the risks.

If it's cleared by your doctor to take the shot, why wait?

Be safe - let me know what you decide.

Hai, I have IgA stage 3, and I got Moderna (also mRNA vaccine). I've had Covid, and it actually helped my long term symptoms. I felt a bit more tired than usual, some headache and sore arm for 2 days after, no protein urea or the likes.

I cleared it with my nephrologist first, but as I see it, we can die from Covid, and for me, almost anything is better than that. I was very nervous before honestly and fainted from the stress, having been isolated alone for 14 months, but I am very happy that I did it. Sending you best of wishes!

Pass for me regarding the vax. I'll just keep my hands washed.
