Hi Purple,Take a look at how you sleep. Are you on a good supportive mattress? Back pain is not as common a symptom to stage 3 CKD. Make sure you are drinking the amount of water the doctor told you to consume. If this is a new issue, then something like an infection might be the cause and should be checked out. Have you ever passed a kidney stone? If the pain is sharp, maybe it is a muscle pull? It can even be a simple as being constipated. So there are so many factors, you should speak with the doctor who can rule out some causes. I know you are pretty young, so this is more concerning because with age, aches and pains are more common.

Agree with you on the aches and pains with age.

Bassetmommer is correct in many ways, but I would bring it up with your nephrologist, I had huge boulders as kidney stones. with no pain at all, but I have heard from many others that this is a big indicator. Also my stones were blocking my ureter, so they were not even giving off a pain when they "moved". There is also a radiological test they can do to inject a dye and see where it travels, and how fast, and or do an ultrasound. But I honestly do hope it is something real simple. Drink water till your pee is clear, and try to limit NSAID pain relievers, dark sodas, and processed food, and it should help a lot. CKD is not reversible, but you CAN keep it from getting any worse. Im 3A/3B too, and it gives me the impression I'm on a rollercoaster being driven by a blindfolded drunk monkey! lol

Hi, I use to get really bad back and feet pain when I was on dialysis, but that changed after transplant. So I’m not too sure if you’re on dialysis at all or not.

find a better mattress or as I did put a sheet of 3 inch of plywood under your mattress to make your bed firmer it helps me with my ckd 4 back pain

hi, yes I do big time have found on many web sites like WebMD.com and such that ckd and back pain are very much related it's a sign that one's body going thru stress with me laying down does help.
