I've been diagnosed with CKD. Went from 172 lbs to 150. I was lifting 4-5 days/week until they closed the gym (thanks COVID-19) and was on 3 amino acid supplements (creatine, glutamine, and arginine). Once diagnosed, I stopped all 3. I'm fairly certain that creatine is out for good. However, my question concerns resuming the l-glutamine and l-arginine. I was stage 4, but with Rituxan have improved to 3A. Thoughts?

Why would you want to take a chance again with supplements when you already know that you GFR improved with not taking them? Here's an article which left me trying to guess...
Glad to hear of someone else working out. Im 3a myself. My GP told me no gym so i fired her. Im a ISSA certified personal trainer and the gym is my life. I have my 1st appt with my nephrologist on wed. I personally feel they misdiagnose people who work out all the time. Working out breaks muscle down releasing creatinine making our number higher. Well i guess ill find out on wed.
Keep in mind, nephrologists want patients also... you don't always get straight answers from them either. The first nephrologist my GP sent me too, told me I have stage 3 CKD based on 2 creatinine results alone (Supposed to be 3 consecutive tests before they make that diagnosis). The jerk sent me into a panic attack, went to my GP for xanax and he did my blood creatinine again and it came back normal. 3 months go by and my creatinine was elevated again, so my GP sent me to a different nephrologist who took one look at my muscles and said creatinine will never be an accurate indicator of kidney function for me since I have more muscle than average. My Cystatin-c eGFR has runs about 90 and has been as high as 115 but my creatinine eGFR has been as low as 40. Creatinine testing is a joke.
Thankyou. Ive never had the 24hr urine test. Ive never had any biopsy. All my " diagnoses" are done my blood creatinine tests. When i work out yes protein leaks into the urine. Thats normal. When imnot working out no protein. The egfr is the same too. No matter what i was doing at the time the numbers the same. It bounces 10 either way. Cant wait to see what the cystatin c method comes too. People here are soo down on strengthtraining. Every article ive readis all for excercise. Strength n cardio.
