NOPE... spend your money elsewhere. This is really mostly BS.... the amount of safety with supplements often negates the benefit. But just as an example, Stinging nettles are NOT good for CKD, see the link below.... and several of these items are actually diuretics and will actually be hard on the kidneys and some can cause oxalate kidney stones..... beware.... there is NO cure for CKD.

I only use supplements my Doctor recommends and even then research them.

Not sure if there's enough consensus in the nephrology community to recommend resveratrol. You might want to do some research.

I saw that one but I was scared to try it because it says not to if you are hormone sensitive.. And I've never done well on birth control when I was younger and now have a thyroid condition... So I figure I should stay away from hormones unless a doctor says I need it.

There are reports of kidney benefits on supplements including cordyceps (incl kidney function - see 1st link below) and resveratrol (2nd link) as well as anecdotal evidence of benefits on this forum from Gerald1967 and Hope for the respective herbs.

Id recommend seeing a qualified Nutritional Therapist specialising in renal rather than a doctor (generally untrained/unqualified in nutrition).

PS My mum has taken cordyceps for past 2y - initially for proteinuria as her eGFR was already increasing well.

Speak to your doctor and and see if he/ she has any recommendations which would be beneficial to your health issues. Many supplements contain ingredients which can look good in the write up, but cause adverse reactions.

Yes, resveratrol has been researched and decidedly proven to benefit kidney function. I’ve been taking resveratrol twice a day for over an year with documented continual improvement in my kidney function tests. Here are some (of numerous) articles for you to read:

I told him I’ve been taking that and he said to keep doing what I’m doing that my kidney function looks good!

I’d just add as most know regardless of your own research DO NOT take any supplements as most of us don’t know which are “safe” to take with our SPECIFIC illness and how it affects us. As such I’d recommend not taking anything until a good discussion with your most trusted physician. While in most cases supplements won’t cause an issue remember any new chemical ingested (like supplements) could have an inverse affect on organs affected and lead to organ failure as opposed to benefiting said organs. As such your doctor who does your normal blood work should (at least for a decent amount of time after adding any new medication or supplement) increase blood work frequency to ensure the newly added medication or supplement is not causing further organ damage.

Finally while all the research reports are helpful DO NOT (at least in my opinion) add any new daily pill even if “just a multiple vitamin”or whatever without consulting your most trusted physician first. It’s too easy to suddenly cause kidney/liver failure especially for those of us who have already insulted those vital organs by adding new “safe” (safe for those without decreased organ performance) supplements whether “just a muti-vitamin” or whatever. Best of luck to you!
