Hi everyone! I’m new here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Marci, I’m 53, I have stage 3 kidney disease. Diagnosed in June. Still a little freaked out about it. I’m going to see a nephrologist later this month. Hopefully he can give me better insights. I also have angiomyolipoma of the kidney. Not known if this has any bearing on the disease. So many unanswered questions. Anyway just wanted to say hi!

Welcome to the forum. You will find support and information here. There is much sharing and caring.
I was diagnosed at CKD 3b, 4+ years ago. I am age 79 and have been on a CKD diet prescribed by my GP. It has slowed down the progression according to the eGFR tests. Your Nephrologist should prescribe the correct treatment for you.
Welcome🐶 Be sure to take a list of questions with you to your first appointment with the nephrologist. Frankly, I was so stressed out about the possibility of CKD when I went to my first appointment that I just sat through it mute saying virtually nothing. Definitely not the best use of the nephrologist’s time or my time🐶😢

We all panic initially. Four years on and I'm still dealing with the expiry date I was given, now passed!
The reality is at stage 3 and seeing a specialist will give you the right tools to deal with this.
Down under we don't get that luxury of seeing a specialist until it is next to too late. Ambulance at the bottom of the cliff mentality. I'm all about preserving what function I have before getting to the cliff edge, or below.
I have come to learn I have a decease not a death sentence. With changes to your lifestyle and diet it becomes manageable The secret to it all is to try and maintain a stable GFR.
Kidney function decreases with age so consider your GFR against the norm for your age group.
Hi, Marci! Welcome to the forum. Here is an article for you to read, and it may spark some questions for you to ask the doctor when you go. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
Hi Marci! Welcome to the forum. I’m also relatively new. I was diagnosed when I was 27. I’m 30 now in Stage 4 and while it is daunting at times, just know that you’ve got a whole community here that you can ask questions to. Stay strong! And let us know if we can help in anyway!
