CKD worry

Hi there.

I have recently been told I suffer from hypertension. I have to go in for U&E ACR and an ECG as I have been placed on meds. I am worried about CKD. I had a full blood count + U&E nearly a year ago, would these tests have flagged issues with my Kindneys then? Thanks in advance 👍

Not exactly sure what you are asking. What is a U&E ACR and an ECG? I am used to figures with GFR or eGFR and creatinine to measure kidney function.

U and E = Urea and Electrolytes Blood Test, ACR = Albumin-to-creatinine ratio, and ECG = Electrocardiographic.

If your doctor is looking at Hypertension issues that would explain the ECG testing. The U & E term is a term used in Australia. Pete1974 are you from there? If yes, it's best you ask the ordering physician what they suspect (Hypertension) and what they are looking for with the results you have. Best of luck.

We use the U + E term here in Ireland also. I'm concerned i might have issues with my Kidneys as i had some foamy pees over the past few days. Only happens when i pee directly in the water, hits the sides there is nothing.

I was just wondering if my previous test last year FBC U+E would have flagged kidney issues.

This might be a silly question, but regarding foamy pee, does it have to hit the water in the bowl to foam or should in foam also in a urinal and say hitting the sides of the toilet bowl. Sorry for being a pain, just very worried at the moment 😟

There could be a variety of issues causing this. I've attached a link to an article that may help you understand this better. At the very least, you should be able to develop specific questions to ask your doctor. What type of doctor are you seeing for this? If it's not a urologist, you might consider seeing one for this issue and go from there.
