It can be many things. Check with your doctor. My first guess would be an UTI, or infection somewhere. It can be as simple as something you eat. That is why you should see your doctor.

I have had this same symptom from time to time. I think I have noticed it more when I have eaten more protein than usual. It may be helpful to readers if you let us know if you are on dialysis (what type), CKD or what? 2 litres of water is a lot in my condition. I have been told 2 quarts (that's only 8 cups) plus whatever I expel for a day.

No I'm not on dialysis yet

Two liters is less than two quarts.

Hello Smilerf. Welcome to the forum. I can understand your concern. According to the website Healthline, it could be a number of things (9 according to Healthline) that may cause ones’s urine to carry a sulphur like scent. You can always check it out yourself by visiting the Healthline website, but I’m pretty sure it listed, asparagus (that’s already been mentioned in another post), dehydration, eating onions and garlic, a fistula, a UTI (also mentioned in another post), consuming too much protein and not balancing it out with enough fluid intake, liver issues, and do you think I can remember the other four? Of course not. Lol! I’m so sorry. But as I say, perhaps if you visit the website, you’ll have a better understanding of the causes. Try not to concern yourself too much. I know that that is certainly easier said than done, but, it sounds like something that is quite common (at least according to Healthline). Also, it may even resolve itself. Had it been a cause for serious concern, it would most likely have been noticed by doctors while you were receiving care at the hospital. If you still find this bothersome, or if you notice it’s lasting for a week or so, maybe just take a trip to see your family physician. Do keep us posted, dear. All the best to you. God bless.

If infection has been ruled out, then it is usually something that you are eating. As someone mentioned, asparagus is a big one. Keep track of what you are eating for a week and maybe you can see a trend. From that you can see what food is causing the odor.
