I posted earlier regarding my husband's health. He turned 39 and diagnosed with CKD 1 1/2 year before.
6 months earlier his labs showed a GRF 53 and now in a recent blood work his GRF is 44.
I m really worried and disappointed with his results. We are doing very well in his diet. He do excercise 4 to 5 times in a week and trying really hard to stay positive.
But after his current results we are just feeling hopeless. This GRF fluctuations are normal as his nephrologist is saying that it is normal and depends upon some factors like what u eat or done before the blood work.
Please really need some encouragement and positive feedback from you guys.
Thanks
Kind regards
Bye bye☺️.

Your eGFR can change depending on what you have eaten, and any heavy exercise, my Doctor tells me. The Doctor also does an average of eGFR, on monitoring the condition. There are other lab tests to consider. Is there blood work scheduled?
Dont worry. The eGFR is only an estimate. On top of that it can change quite drastically based on how hydrated he was at the time of the test and also what he has eaten recently. It's the trend over months and years that we look at. Don't worry about individual readings. Keep doing what you are doing. All the best.
My gfr fluctuates as well. Don't get too hung up on the number. He is still in stage 3. You didn't mention diet which is important. Limit protein, dairy, caffeine, increase water, no over the counter pain relievers. No strenuous exercize. Blood pressure under control. He can remain in this stage a long time. Try not to worry and live life.
There are other things to consider like his creatinine. Is that climbing as well? What was his GFR a year ago. I would ask to have another lab draw done within 3 month.I would be a bit concerned and seek advice on his diet and medications. In many cases you can slow the progression with a kidney friendly diet.
There is no need to feel hopeless because there is a lot to do to help him. There are classes you can take on line and diet plans if you cannot find a renal dietician.
Protein affects creatinine...eating out can be ok, stick with veggies, fruits, lentils, egg whites....watch salt...and the National Kidney kidney.org/search-results?s...
I encourage you to do all you can to control blood pressure and try to slow the progression. I also encourage you both to think about options. Progression to Renal failure necessitates transplant. My personal advice is prentice transplant over dialysis.
