Atrophic kidney.

Hello all,

I have a question. I was diagnosed with left kidney atrophy in 2016 with dimensions of L 6.88 W 2.88 H 3.65 and now 3 year later the dimensions are L 8.4 W 3.6 H 4.5.

Does anyone know how I can go from a small 6.8 kidney to a 8.4 kidney? Everything I have read on the Internet says that an Atrophy kidney is non-reversible.

Thank you, R.J

That is definitely a question for your doctor. None of us on this site are medical experts and rely on our own personal experience. I would say it is good that it has gotten larger but.... You need to make a list of some questions to ask your doctor. Find out what is going on.

I guess what I really want to know is, Has anyone ever experienced this before?

My suspicion is that one of the two sets of measurements may be inaccurate. Let us know how it turns out.

Thank you Marvin, Since then I have had a third sonogram done , it measured the same as the first measurement. The doctor that did the second sonogram wouldn’t even listen to my concerns, or answer any of my questions so I change doctors. Thank you
