Gfr improvement.

I am 55( male) and ckd stage 4 paitent last month my Creatinine was 3.57 and gfr 19. Doctor told me that I would need dialysis very soon.

I was terrified and nervous and started more restrictions on diet. I do not some or drink alcohol and vegan. This month my test results have improved creatinine is 3.1 and gfr 21.

I would like to ask if can I improve more and delay dialysis as long as I can.

HI Amit,

Congratulations. That's really good. The answer depends on many things but.... in many cases you might continue to improve and you may stay where you are for a prolong period if time. I know changing my diet improved my lab results, upped my GFR one point and I am stable now for over a year.

Amit

That is a good improvement congratulations. May I ask what is your typical daily diet. I was born in India and follow vegetable diet.

I also take some Ayurveda supplements and it has stabilized the kidney function

If you have any experience with Ayurveda supplements, I would like to know

God bless

Amit7279, Bassetmommer offers excellent advice. I'm CKD4 and almost 25 years OLDER than you are. My eGFR is 27-29. I haven't seen anyone express joyfulness about dialysis, although those who elect at-home peritoneal dialysis seem more satisfied. They can complete daily dialysis while they sleep. We plan to move to an apartment early in 2020, and were I to need dialysis, I doubt I'd be able to use peritoneal dialysis because a monthly shipment of supplies would take perhaps 1/2 of one of the two bedrooms in the apart- ment we plan to rent. At your age, you might be a candidate for a transplant. Perhaps you have a spouse or relative (sister/brother) willing to donate a kidney to someone else (a match) so that you in turn can receive a transplanted kidney from a LIVE donor. A spouse/relative/friend begin a "chain" that may involve 6-8 people. Your local transplant center helps set up the "chain." Best wishes!

Amit, I believe that raising your GFR and lowering your creatinine is possible. My GFR was less than 20 and creatinine was 49. At present GFR is 36 and creatinine is 30. I just joined a group on Facebook called Natural kidney journey in hopes of improving even more. You have to answer a few questions and you can see for yourself the great and ever growing success stories. Best of luck to you.
