Today's 'i' newspaper reported an article in The New England Journal of Medicine double-blind tests, the result showing it reduced kidney failure by a third, and cardiovascular events by 20%. As it is already a drug in use to treat Type 2 diabetes, it is currently readily available. Sounds good news The Professor of metabolic metabolism at Glasgow University described it as having 'the potential to revolutionise treatment of people with diabetes and kidney disease'. This is just to inform you of a new development not to promote it or agree with it. Just FOI.

The link to the full article mentioned by the above poster is below. Read and draw your own conclusions. Right now I believe it's too soon to make any grand announcement. Of course that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.
Yes I read this too👍👍🤞google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.co...
I got so excited when I first looked into this drug. But when I went to the website for the drug side effects, I got dissapointed quickly. This is what it said for side effects: "Acute kidney injury. Consider temporarily discontinuing in settings of reduced oral intake or fluid losses. If acute kidney injury occurs, discontinue and promptly treat. Monitor renal function during therapy (5.4)"
So as most drugs, it is a chance you take. I also did not like the warning about amputations.
I sure wish they would spend some time figuring out a drug that would cause less harm and do more good. But then, it would make the diabetic drug manufactures furious at the money they would lose. And we know how big that lobby is!
This is the kind of information we all need.
