Hi,

You said you had an infection, but did not say where. I would make sure the doctor is aware of your pain. BTW, sometimes drinking more water helps. But that is a serious drop in GFR. What else do your labs show? Hows your creatinine and other levels?

I am not sure what is causing your pain, but do make sure the doctor knows.

BTW, your kidneys are located below the chest cavity and when you expand the cavity by taking a deep breath, you may be pressing or squeezing the kidneys. But there are other reasons you might be experiencing pain. Take a look:

Thanks for replying, my pain sin in my kidney, I had the doctor out on Thursday and they Tom blood, they had treated me with trimethropin which is not good as it can effect some levels like my potassium, my bloods came back with my urea up at 13.2 and my creatine level was 208.my potassium was fine well it was 4.6.when my renal function drops away to 9 indent get this kind of pain so for it to be stable the doctor said at 20 with this much pain is causing a bit of concern

It's important to make sure that your infection is adequately treated - please follow up with your doctor!

My nephrologist always told me that kidneys by themselves do not cause pain. So, if you are having pain, maybe your infection is not better? I know for me, sometimes I needed more than one course of antibiotics. Sometimes the antibiotic needed to be changed
