I think my mum has had ckd for about 3 yrs but has only recently told me . Her kidney function is 28% and she is seeing consultant every 4 months .she has recently been hospitalised with pneumonia fluid around heart and v unstable blood sugar . During this time k function was 20%. She is anaemia and due to start injections for this next week .
She is 80 and has high blood pressure and complains of tiredness . I would really appreciate some idea of the prognosis and pace of deteriation or if a turn around is possible

The fact that your Mom is seeing a consultant (nephrologist?) is a good thing. She will be tired with anemia, but the injections should help her. We do not give diagnosis or prognosis here. But I will say there is always a chance for stabilizing her situation. She has a lot going on and also she is 80. I would be very tired too.
I would suggest that you might accompany her on her next visit to the doctor. Often parents feel they are burdening the child if they tell them all that is going on. Tell her you want to know and want to support her. It will be good for both of you.
