Hello flocaan, Firstly let me say I think you are great for wanting to take care of your mom as she will surely find it easier to cope with the dialysis etc. having your support too! I am assuming you live in USA so the usual recommendation is to use the Davita.com site for information on CKD and they have lots of ideas on diet and healthy living and also offer a free class in helping people to live with CKD. I cannot speak from personal experience on this as I live in UK and we do not have this help.

However, from what you say, your mom is at stage 5 if she is already on dialysis so surely she will be able to access specialist help with diet and other issues from her medical team at her hospital's kidney unit? If not, you should help her speak to her doctor to get the specialist help she needs to sort out a satisfactory diet especially tailored to her needs. This is the most important thing you can do for her. Good luck and best wishes, and come back if you need any other help from people more knowledgeable than I am - Curleytop1.
