If your are a diabetic, try to have your doctor prescribe insulin rather than other medications. The other medications are cheaper and usually your first choice when you have insurance, but these are so toxic that you will eventually have kidney failure. This is something pharmaceuticals don't want you to know. Don't take my word, but rather read and find out for youself.

Marvila45,
Please be careful about posting about medications especially something that is not documented and is misinformed. Not all diabetic medications are toxic or harmful for CKD and actually having good glucose control is better for the kidney. Anyone who is taking any form of prescription is wise to ask their doctor and or pharmacist about how it may affect their CKD.
I agree with you completely. It's irresponsible to suggest something like that and made even worse by not supporting that statement with research-based evidence from a valid source. All you need to do is let the physician know you have CKD and based on the type of diabetes you have they can determine the best course of treatment. While not unheard of most people know about their diabetes first and CKD later, especially since many physicians don't bother telling their patients about having CKD until Stage 3 or later.
Also, for many folks who are able to control their T2D, exercise and diet control can help with your CKD as well. I've had T2D for 17 years but never had to take insulin, and over the years several different medications as my glucose control got better. For the last 15 months, the same amount of time I knew I was at Stage 3 CKD, I've been off medications for diabetes and control it by diet, exercise, and medication control.
Good for you!
