Hello, I'm new here. Please help me understand these ultrasound results for my 82-year-old husband who has been suffering from extreme tiredness, intermittent severe pain in left flank, lack of appetite for several months. We just found out he is stage 3b and have appointment with doctor in 8 days but wondering if we should go sooner.
Moderately enlarged prostate
Kidneys slightly shrunk 8cms
Cortical thickness 9mm right 11mm left
We are in France and I have translated as best I can.
Does the above explain his fatigue? Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's health. Stage 3b means his kidney is functioning between 30-44%. It will be important to the doctors to see if he has a protein in his urine called albumin. Here is some information on kidney function and tests: kidney.org/atoz/content/gfr. It will also be important to figure out what is causing the decrease in kidney function. A lowered kidney function could be causing the fatigue.
In regards to his prostate, this may or may not be related. Either way, it sounds like talking to the doctor will be helpful to learn more. Wishing you both the best!
