Pkd on stage 2
Hi Bai,
Apparently cod liver oil is high in Vit A which many kidney patients are already high in and it is not recommended. Other types of fish oil or cold pressed flax seed oil would be better. One study showed that Omega 3 oils such as fish or flax have no effect on early PKD, but can help as the disease progresses.

Other articles state that fish oil (not cod liver), can help other inflammatory symptoms that go along with PKD such as arthritis at any stage of the disease, so fish oil (not cod liver) would probably be good to take.Best to consult your renal doctor about all supplements you wish to take.
However, eating fish is also an option to help you get essential fatty acids (Omega 3). Read more about it here on Davita's site blogs.davita.com/kidney-die...
Have you considered checking out the site pkd.org ? It has lots of information. Also check out kidneyschool.org it has small 20 minutes educational bits with questions to help you learn more about chronic kidney disease, dialysis, insurance, intimacy etc. Most physicians agree not to change up your diet too much at this stage except to eat healthier. Exercise, stop smoking, drink plenty of water, don't take NSAIDS (like advil, aspirin), get outdoors and soak up a few rays, drink alcohol in moderation, control or get treated right away for any infections especially UTI. There is controversy that once you reach stage 3 CKD that if you go vegetarian and/or limit protein it can help slow down the progression of the disease. Licorice is known to promote cyst formation in PKD so avoid if possible. There are also a lot of support groups for chronic kidney disease you could join. I personally own and admin quite a few of my own. Hope this helps Blessings
