I know everyone is different, how much weight can i expect to lose while on dialysis?
weight loss: I know everyone is different... - Kidney Disease
weight loss
Hi rascol01. The purpose of dialysis is to take the toxic fluid out of your body & clean your blood. The work that kidneys do. It doesn't take body weight off. Talk to your dietion at dialysis & follow the special kidney disease diet & exercise & you may become a little lighter in body weight & healthier. Hope this helps & I am sure others will give suggestions. You have come to the right place. Always know you are not alone & stay strong.
Hi
You will probably be put in fluid restriction if your not already to help with fluid overload.
If your doing dialysis 3 times a week and allowed to have a 1000mls a day which is a kilo in weight you would expect to lose That, which is why it's important to be honest about how much you are drinking.
They will weight you before each session to workout your wet weight and your dry weight.
If you are holding on to fluid you will lose this over time.
It's not just fluid th need to considerit's yoghurts, jellys, rice, gravy etc.
Hope this helps
