Great you took Davita Class. Likely your Doctor will cover diet and go over your meds. Would definitely take list of meds.

If you have t gone yet:

1. see if you can find out a cause of why you have it- diabetes, high blood pressure etc.

2. See if they can give you the type of kidney disease you have

3. Have them go over and explain any blood work you have- explain to you GFR, creatinine, what numbers to look for- this was probably discussed in your class.

4. How often do you need to get blood work done and how often do you need to see nephrologist.

5. Do you need a biopsy?

6. Should you be on a certain diet, add certain supplements , avoid certain medications.

Good luck. Hope you find out what you need to know.

Is a kidney biopsy always necessary? Is it painful ? I'm stage 3

Had a biopsy in 2000, right kidney. It doesn't hurt. It's good to know what type of desease you have. Mine was in the operating room and they used a big needle. No sedation or anesthetic was used. Hope you do well.

Not what you're looking for?
