What's Up Doc?

Another great day in the neighborhood.

Came back from my first visit to my new nephrologist. Just about an hour with him and then labs were drawn. I'm satisfied with my decision to replace the previous nephrologist with this different one. He actually listened and I was able to go through my med list and discuss the options suggested by the PCP.

He agreed with all of those changes and suggested I stop my diuretic medication which she reduced to 1/2 tablet. At least for now. He did a full range of tests this time and said to wait until he gets the results before going forward with any other changes. I should know the values by Friday.

We also reviewed my last 3 years of labs (not line by line) but looking for clues as to what may have caused my GFR to drop continuously. Once he gets my new lab results back and looks them over I'll go back for another appointment in the middle of next month and we'll review them individually if they impact my kidneys. He actually explained each step of the process and agreed that we would do this at each step of the way to ensure I was okay with what we were doing. I am.

After I get through Friday's unpleasantness (colonoscopy) I have a second appointment next week with the Renal Dietitian to see how the dietary changes are going, along with the med changes she suggested and the PCP made.

Sounds like you are on the right track Mr Kidney, and getting good medical advice and treatment plan. I have to go thru the same unpleasantness in October.

Waiting out Irma here in FL

We are glued to the TV watching the coverage. Last night was not good as Irma took a bit of a western jog. We have family, including 3 grandkids in Pinellas County, just north of Clearwater. They weren't able to get out and will have to ride it out. We are planning a fast trip there after it passes to get them up here if needed. Hunker down and stay safe.
