Good morning I’m a newbie to this site, today I’ve woke up to the first day of my weight loss journey.

I’m excited and well prepared but know deep down it’s going to be a tough day since eating so much over the festive season.....

Hi and welcome, Trendycake :)

You're in good company here and we always support each other through the tough times.

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.

Wishing you all the best for 2020 :)

Please have a good read of all the information Trendycake 😊

The best advice I can give is have enough to eat. If you are following the NHS 12 Week plan then the 1400/1900 calorie target suggested is a just generic amount, please check your own personal calorie target using the BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think. We always advise starting towards the top of the range, being hungry is the biggest cause of weight loss failure.

What you eat is also important. Fat is no longer believed to be the bad guy, it’s an essential nutrient and essential for satiety. Please read this for a more detailed explanation

Glad to hear it 😊. I highly recommend the Daily Diary for help with meal planning, somehow writing it out in black and white makes it easier to stick to

Hi Trendycake, I am also a newbie and looking forward to new beginnings!

I am hoping to use the amount of food eaten over Christmas as a motivator - too feel hungry again will be quite novel!

Good luck with everything x

Hi.

I am also on day one after a Christmas blow out.

And also a newbie.

So hopefully I am in good company.

Good luck with your programme.

I am also on day six of Dry-January. I have not slept well since going dry and I am eating more in the evenings. So while I will feel better (in a while) for not drinking, the downside might impact my weight loss goals, as I do not think I am getting a significant calorie reduction through cutting out the booze.

I know the answer is all inside my head, and that all will be ok in the end.

Hi, Trendycake , welcome.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
