Heaviest I have ever been

I am a newbie just my second week. I have 7st to lose.... I have never been so heavy. Really need to do something as my knees hurt all the time, I have constant back ache, get out of breath going up the stairs or up hill. Struggling to tie my shoe laces and put socks on.

Hopefully start to lose some and feel better shortly.

Well done - you made it to week 2 already so you must be motivated. I'm only on week 6 but as you start to see the lbs drop you'll keep it up I'm sure. This group is great for support. Try not to weigh yourself too often, it gets me down when it's gone up but then down again so as long as in the long term it's going in the right direction that's all that matters! Keep up the good work.

Thank you. I am the other way with the scales....if I haven't lost I get angry and think yes I will try even harder ....if I have lost I am so pleased it inspirers me to do more. I weight my self every morning. I didn't lose anything in the first week but have lost a pound since and have also increased my walking.

Some people take a week or two to kick in so keep going and you might suddenly see a big drop.

If it helps I felt the same when I began my weight loss journey. I started with a very short walk 2 or 3 times a day (50 yards and back). Gradually I built up with the walking. Then as I lost the weight I set myself tiny targets to cover a specific distance or complete a familiar walk in less time. After a few months I joined a lo impact exercise class. This progressed to badminton and use of the equipment in a gym. When eventually I lost the excess weight my favourite party piece in a morning is to put my socks on standing up! Be determined and you will lose your weight pound by pound and eventually you will get fitter and fitter.

I didn't believe it could be done in my case and 18 months on I was amazed and I had never felt better. All the very best with your journey.

Don't weigh yourself every day once a week or fortnightly is plenty. You could measure yourself too that can be more of a motivator as inches fall off but scales don't change much. Wee changes make great things , stay positive and results will come Good Luck !!

I also take my measurements (waist, neck, wrist etc.) along with weighing myself. Sometimes I shed a few inches but no kilos, which means I haven't lost weight but I am still on track. You might also like to try.

Interesting that you say measure your neck.. I hadn't really thought about that part.. of course in reality there is fat everywhere so it's bound to lose a few cm..

becca9486 I measure my neck because some body fat % calculators require it.

Hi sandrabuxton I hope the scales are friendly to you this week. Did you take some measurements before you started? It's encouraging to see the inches drop even when the weight doesn't. Cheering you on... 🎉🎉🎉

hi sandra

im also newbie. its my first week here. if its any consolation, i have 10st to lose😣. been trying to lose weight most of my adult life. i lose it and then gain it back with extra . this is my heaviest ever. so a different approach this time. I'm setting smaller goals, joined this group for support and following the 12 week plan.

Now i'm more determined than ever as i have just been diagnosed with, diabetes and raise blood pressure. I have lower back pain so cant walk more than 50 metres without the need to sit down.

Its a long long journey.......but we are here to support each other.

Good Luck
