Counting Calories(yawn) - doesn't rock my boat.

I've spent quite a lot of time today on the site calorie checker. I figured if I made a list of the count of things I eat regularly I'd save myself a bit of time later on in the Plan. Well, nice theory but I've just about lost the will to live.... I was so fed up I had 2 choccie digestives.... So, this is only day 2 of the 12 week plan and I'm flagging already!

Would you be happy to use an app? It works on mobile tablets and p.c it is called my fitness pal? Lots of people on here use it and it really cuts out some of the pain! You can even scan a bar code and it tells you the calories

Thanks for that, I don't use my mobile much. It's a smartphone. I've never downloaded an app and wouldn't know how to do it, but will have a look see if I can figure it out. Isn't there something similar I can use with my laptop?

Hey battlethebulge, what were you fed up with? If becoming fed up leads to eating biccies or something similar, try drawing up a contingency plan for the next time you feel like that. Maybe tell yourself you'll go for a short walk, call a friend, something else to focus on. Post here first.

Don't lose heart over 2 biscuits. At the risk of making this conversation a bit circular but do the calories that they amount to fit into your daily limit? I still eat desserts if I know I've eaten healthily that day and it won't take me over my limit.

BTW I've gone over my limit several times in the last 7 weeks, a couple of times quite spectacularly but I try to learn each time as to the reasons why.

Good luck!

Right, try again. The gremlins are at work today, when I posted my first reply to yours the submit post tab wouldn't work.

Ok, I was just fed up with looking up all the foods I eat regularly and putting them on a Word document. Got fed up with it, chucked all the stuff to one side and went and raided the biccie tin! Fortunately my forage into chocolate heaven didn't push me over my calorie limit for today, but now the choccie bics are all shouting at me - 'EAT ME - EAT ME!' 12 weeks of this? Will I cope, I ask myself.

When I started I just counted as I went along and made a note at the time. I soon found that I could remember the count for things I used regularly. As for the biccies don't worry about it especially if within your allowance. Personally I would give up if I didn't have my daily sweet treat. Good luck 🤗

I don't suppose anybody actually enjoys counting calories but it's a means to an end. And if you do it properly it works.

But there are other possibilities like low carb eating or paleo which don't involve as much recording. Have you tried something like that?

Just look things up as you go along for now, and add them to your document as you go along. Then it won't be tedious and you'll have a useful list in no time.I ddid that and it's so helpful though you do learn how much things are - especially treats!! I have also started writing the total calories of recipes into my recipe books so I only have to do it once. It gets easier, and as the weight starts coming off, you'll appreciate the time spent is worth it.
