Help I have lost the plot!

It was all going so well up until I completed my NHS Diet at the end of April. Since then I have gained 6lbs due to over indulgence. This included dining out and a weekend in London. I have also had a couple of minor illnesses including sickness and catarrh. As well as family problems. I need a swift kick up the backside and motivation. Any ideas will be very welcome. Thank you for listening to my problems.

Take care all

  • Hi. Well the good news is you have done it once, you know it's not a diet but a life style adjustment, and you are aware that you have put weight on after only 6 lb . Some small tweaks and you will be back at your happy weight.

So go for it, enjoy the ride , and happy lifestyle tweaks

  • It is time to re-invent yourself! Write a list of all the things in life you would really like to do, and work out what is stopping you? Is it lack of time, finance or, the easiest one to do something about...your health and fitness? You only have one body, it is your most precious possession and it deserves to be valued and cared for. Clear out that fridge, chuck out the booze (and fags?), write a shopping list of what you need to buy and plan some good meals for the next few days. You will feel like you are back in the driving seat of your life again!

  • I have the perfect solution for you OldGuy. Sign up for the 12 week plan, including the emails and join Lowcal's Re-boot challenge! :)

So far, we have a 100% success rate, which is absolutely fantastic! :)

Come on! You can do it and we can help! :)

  • I agree with moreless, get back on board and sign up for the plan. I believe Lowcal's group is currently on week three and I'm sure they wouldn't mind you tagging along. :)

Maintaining can be a challenge if you fall back into old habits or life gets in the way, as it seemingly happened in your case.

It's just 6 pounds - you'll be back to your ideal weight in no time and then you can have another go at maintaining your weight and I'm sure you'll find a new eating-lifestyle that'll suite you. :)

    Good luck!

  • At least you're aware you've gained 6 pounds so you can rein yourself back in again rather than continue to regain any weight you lost previously! The reboot challenge is a great idea (see moreless's link above!)

  • I was also going to suggest the 12 week plan again.

I'm about to finish the 12 week plan and I've decided that I'm going to buy a little notebook. I'll keep it with me and try to stick to a sensible calorie intake. I'm hoping it'll keep me on track as I'll keep a log. I'm going to continue to weigh myself every couple of days and I'm going to make a note of that in my little book too. I'm hoping that after a year or so it'll just be habit and then I might not need the book, but that's my plan.

Obviously we all have blips, you'll get back on track and coming on here is a great start.

Maybe do the Monday weigh-ins too if you're not still doing them - there are people on their maintaining and that's always a good motivator.

    Good luck!

  • Hi OldGuy,

Well a weekend in London and a few dinners out was bound to put a few extra pounds on but 6lbs you know you can shift it so consider your backside kicked and get back on track! - John

  • Hi OldGuy67,

Firstly, I'd like to say Congratulations for completing your NHS Diet at the end of April. I know you've gained a few pounds during that weekend in London, and a few meals out, plus having to contend with some minor illnesses - as well as your family problems. I am sorry to hear you've had some problems, and I hope that you have some support for those - hopefully a good friend or family member you can talk things through with. You can come here too, if you ever want to unload and chat - there's usually somebody around here.

I'm so glad that you've been pointed in the direction of the Re-boot Challenge, as it would be really great if you did want to join us. Just have a look at the link moreless has given you, and join in if you feel it might be something you'd enjoy. kantara71 won't mind my saying that he's joining it on the weekend, and people are joining in at different times - and so far it seems to be working out well, so I would encourage you to join if you want to.

But no pressure! Do whatever feels best for you. I'm just glad you're back with us, and hopefully we can support you with your ongoing weight loss journey.

    Have a great day!

    Lowcal :-)
