Kicking those Kilometres to the Dust - walking, running, cycling, dancing or any other movement you may care to disclose! (16 November)

I think my target was 30kms and hey I smashed it!!! I ended up doing 33kms of walking. Would have done more but the heavens opened for most of the weekend.

How did everyone else do?

Lizzy

I think my aim last last week was 30km and I actually managed 46.2km!!! So happy thinking I will aim for 50km this week!! Yippee

in reply toWood05

You totally smashed it - well done!

Fantastic Wood :)

Good luck for next week's goal :)

in reply toWood05

Well done Wood - you go for that target next week :-)

Thank you for all your lovely comments! It's such an achievement for me especially after 4-6 weeks ago I couldn't do 1km following a knee injury and treatment the cycling has helped my knee, weight and mental welfare!

I think cycling is totally underestimated, I can't believe the difference it's made to the swelling in my legs :

Your achievements are even more impressive now :)

WTG you Lizzie! The rain is such a pain, isn't it! :)

I knew I wasn't going to be able to get out and do much walking this week and having been shamed into achieving more by everyone else's fantastic achievements, I resurrected my old exercise bike.

This week, I'm happy to report:

Walking - 24kms

Cycling - 30kms

Total - 54kms :) :) :)

I'm a very Happy Hector, despite my very sore posterior :)

My goal eventually, is to walk 49kms/week (which for me is 10,000 steps/day) and to cycle 51.5kms/week (which is 10,000 pedal revolutions/day).

As you can see, I have an awfully long way to go before I achieve that :)

That's amazing!! Well done :D

in reply tomoreless

Woo Hoo - I think you have single handedly got us up and out of the stratosphere :-) That's a really great total and it sounds like you've managed to find something to do that doesn't rely on weather, husband etc. Shame about the bottom, and unfortunately it will just get worse as your 'natural padding' shrinks even further ;-) :-D

moreless profile image
morelessAdministrator7 stone in reply to

Oh great! That's a really cheering thought!

I'm hoping that the lack of padding will be offset by the reduction in weight pressing down on the saddle :)

HAH you're gonna love this one.

I did 0km of walking this week.

Well done you though on smashing your target :)

in reply toScoobaSteve

LOL :-) Not even one trip to the bar ?!

Not even a trip to the loo??!! :)

The great thing about walking is that it's free! :)

This week I will start keeping a tally of my gym based kms

in reply to

That a good idea, Aqua. What do you do at the gym ?

in reply to

I do 35 mins cross trainer and as long as I can cope with walking on the treadmill three times a week. I swim for 45 mins once a week. I only started this a month ago.

Well done Lizzy on reaching and getting beyond that target :-) Weather's been miserable all weekend, hasn't it :-(

I've managed only 27.5km this week. My running I was pleased with - 23km, but only did a single 4.5k walk with the dog. I've fallen out with the dog, the weather has been horrible and I've been really busy, so not much chance for walking. I did do a 'Boxercise' DVD workout - can't measure the km on that, but I did psychologically 'box' the dog quite a bit, so felt tons better ;-)

moreless profile image
morelessAdministrator7 stone in reply to

OMG! That poor dog! Just think yourself lucky, you could have to walk the killer cat! :D

I agree about the weather, it's doing my head in! My poor grandchildren are still waiting to have their bonfire and fireworks because it won't stop raining! :(

You've done really well with your running though :)

in reply tomoreless

At least me and the killer cat could bond over our mutual dislike of the dog ;-)

moreless profile image
morelessAdministrator7 stone in reply to

Ha ha! Maybe you should walk the chickens then, they're usually too brainless to have any sort of lasting antipathy to anything. You could chill out with them :)

in reply tomoreless

Are you suggesting I'm brainless :-O ;-)

If one day you hear a noise behind you, and turn to see a small, furry tortoiseshell assassin leaping at your face - you only have yourself to blame :-)

Ha ha, I read that as small, furry tortoise and wondered where that fitted into the scheme of things :)

Nah! I'd be dog gedly determined to keep the monster moggy at bay :)

76.12 km for me this week

moreless profile image

Wow! That's fantastic. How does that break down into running, walking, cycling etc.

25km running and the rest is walking. I'm trying to ensure that I go for a walk daily and this weekend I had 2 super long walks.

I am walking into town rather than drive and I live very close to Richmond park so that's always a nice walk. I work full time so I make sure I walk every lunch hour.

moreless profile image
morelessAdministrator7 stone in reply toKeep_on_going

That's really impressive, well done you :)

Yeh - that's a great total :-) Well done !!

Hi everyone,

I am really impressed by everyone's stats this week - even ScoobaSteve surprised me!!! I am imagining him stuck somewhere unable to move, so I hope that visual isn't a reality...! Moreless and Lucca10's conversation is very funny - some great visuals going on there too!!!

I walked 37.69 kms this week. I didn't manage any running/jogging though!

I might try to keep the km calculation up for the next few weeks (whilst I'm away) and that will hopefully help me to keep up my exercise as much as I can. I find this thread very motivating, so will aim to pop back on 14th December to give a total figure and also an 'average weekly figure' so you can choose which to add to your total stats Lizzy.

Wishing everyone lots of enjoyable Kms ahead.

Lowcal :-)

in reply toZest

Well done Lowcal -37kms is pretty impressive stuff - I bet your 'total' figure after your three weeks away will be good - will you have much time to yourself or too much work ?

Zest profile image
ZestHealthy BMI in reply to

Hi Lucca,

I doubt I'll have much time to myself unfortunately! But I'll do my best to try to do some exercise as and when I can - I doubt my km figure will be all that impressive when I get back, as I think I'll struggle to do much walking at all, but you never know - all the steps in the day can add up can't they! :-)

Perhaps I should try some jogging or running as that way I can maximise any time I do get! Must ensure I pack some trainers just incase.

Will look forward to seeing how many kms you've all done whilst I'm away - really impressed by the total so far!

Lowcal :-)

Congrats Lizzy! I also had a good week, almost making my 45km target - after a very tail-btwn-legs 5km result last week :(

I cycled twice and ran twice:

Cycling 31.35km

Running 12.69km

Total 44.04km

Yay :)

Hope it stays brighter this week so we can all get loads more kms in :)

in reply to

Congratulations Ruth - sounds like you've got back into the swing of things again :-)

Morning Lizzy and everyone!

Thank goodness you are out there ScoobaSteve....!

Bit of a hopeless week – 27781 paces. About 3cm I think you'll find Lizzy (ExerciseGoddess)! (Well done by the way - I am in awe!).

Got a bit “stuck to the spot” myself this last week due to a mixture of rain, work, and job interview preparation / waiting around. Any way I got the job, but now need to shift myself this week!

My eating is going really well – I think I might be finding out how to rein it in and not feel deprived, and I really see now that if I eat one sugary thing it sets me off to eat loads.

So my weight loss would be moving along a lot more quickly if I was actually moving around! Should be a better week this week – just back from a squelchy dog walk now.

Best wellie forward y'all! Have a great week.

in reply to

Never mind, runningsoon - sometimes life just gets in the way - but congratulations on getting the new job - when do you start ? :-)

in reply to

Thanks Lucca10!

New year, new job, new me! (and hopefully a little bit less of me too!)

Well done Lizzy on smashing your target.

Unfortunately, my week didn't go quite to plan and I was a long way short of my goal. My total this week was 25.3 km which was only a very slight improvement on last weeks total and I was so determined to increase my cardio this week but it just didn't happen.

This week I am going to set a more realistic target of 35 km, I have a shopping trip planned for Sunday which will undoubtedly help towards this and the cross-trainer is definately going to be put to more use this week.

Good luck everyone, have a good week.

in reply to3rd-Time-Here

Blimey - how much shopping are you planning, mrsg !! Will you be taking the kettleball with you for the odd 'swing' when you are standing in those christmas queues ! :-)

3rd-Time-Here profile image
3rd-Time-Here6lbs in reply to

Morning Lucca10

The shopping trip is more of a full day out to be honest, a family day with my mum, sister and niece. We walk around the shops from when they open until they close and are sure to burn some calories off trying on many clothes.

The kettlebell will be staying at home, hopefully the shopping will be a successful trip and carrying the bags will be the strength exercise for the day.

My goal was just to get active again- 10km of walking and a 1 mile swim so far this week with Zumba planned for tomorrow :) enjoying getting back into it a lot!

in reply torj92x

Well done rj - sounds like your activity levels are definitely on the up ! Enjoy the Zumba :-)

Well done everyone - another fantastic week of kicking those kms. Together we achieved 375.81kms bringing our overall total to a whopping 1,949.76kms.

Couldn't do it without you and Lucca responding to everyone on the thread. You're fabulous 😃

Hi Lizzy, sorry I never got round to adding my km's, an "emergency" at work had me going in early, and by the end of the day I was shattered!

I think I will have to leave this thread for now as I find I just don't get round to posting much at the moment. I read when I can though 😏

Either way it has inspired me to finally load the couch to 5km podcast onto my mp3 player, and I have done my first session tonight.

I won't be posting in this thread for now, but thank you for welcoming me - I'll still be around when I can !
