Urine Retention - GP Refuses Specialist Referral

I have a very unusual medical condition known as Cauda Equina Slow Onset or CES-R which can cause urine retention/leaks, repeat UTIs, bowel disruption, weak foot. The cause is suspected to be CES nerve impingement. I need the cause of urine retention to be investigated and CAUTI treatment to be considered. (Catheter Associated UTIs.)

Two urologists have suggested a Urodynamics Scan and raised the CAUTI issue. My GP refuses to make a referral and I cannot find another GP in this area.

The NHS complaints procedure is failing me and many of the 40,000 other similarly patients.

Hi, i would google different clinics out of the area as somewhere there has to be a consultant that specialises in your condition. I had to do this regarding my medical problem and i ended up overseas as the NHS jsut kept fobbing me off and it also turned out that they had misdiagnosed me twice. The overseas clinic also detected other things that the NHS failed to detect. I have no faith in the NHS whatsoever and they are just failing practically everyone. That same day that i was at the overseas clinic, there was another woman who lived not far from where i lived who was at her wits end with the NHS. 9 years she had been battling her condition. I said 7 years for me regarding one thing and 23 years for something else. I said, its ridiculous and i said its like banging on wood. She left the clinic with the correct diagnosis and was scehduled for treatment at the clinic too. She said she had return back to the UK to get stuff sorted and said she would be returning to the clinic in a few weeks time. We both left the clinic hell of a lot happier knowing that we had been taken seriously.
