Unfortunately, your doctors can only help you with the symptom management. Diabetic neuropathy has no known cure. The goals of treatment are to:

Slow progression

Relieve pain

Manage complications and restore function

mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...

Still, you don't have to passively undergo the deterioration and limit yourself to pain management. Your goal should be not to slow down the progression, but to stop it. Read as much as possible about the disease and its underlying causes. I myself have peripheral neuropathy with the same hopeless situation according to my doctor. However, because of my Parkinson's medication, my Vitamin B6 is broken down with disastrous consequences for my PD but also the cause of the PN. Repair of the damage is no longer possible, but the PN is stabilised by a small supplementation with B6.

I found that a B6 deficiency can also occur in your situation and cause/promote neuropathy. I recommend that you do a B6 test first to check this. Here is the accompanying research: “Impact of vitamin B6 deficiency on the severity of diabetic peripheral neuropathy – A cross sectional study”

Keep actively searching yourself and don't give up!

Kevin may I ask what type of Neuropathy you are suffering from, I've no medical qualifications but lots of experience of hospitals doctors and diabetes including neuropathy, could I ask how well your diabetes is controlled by you (your daily sugar/glucose readings, be honest) I'm in a good place now, if I tell you my story you can be the judge of if there is anything in it that may help you.
