Epidural/c-section side affects

Hi all,

Following my emergency c-section I’ve started having pins and needles to the tip of my fingers. Also I have warm hands now which is new for me 🤷🏽‍♀️. Any one else had the same experience? I’ve asked my midwife n she didn’t seem concerned, thought it was due to handling baby. Which I didn’t buy if I might add lol.

It might not be due to the epidural as such but more the post-partum swelling which is affecting one of your nerves, the most likely being your median nerve (i.e carpal tunnel syndrome). Your nerve might also be irritated at the level of the neck, but I would say it’s less likely. There’s lots of information online about carpal tunnel syndrome, I would suggest having a read :)

Hi, I had an emergency c section and now that I read the last reply regarding carpel tunnel I remember having tingly hands too! I had them in the last weeks of pregnancy as well thou, I'd wake up in the night and it would feel as if I'd slept on my hands. It's very unnerving especially if you need to handle the little baby. I think the first week or 2 my husband did most of the handling and would pass me the baby whenever I wanted, I don't recall anymore when the tingling left but it must have been in the first couple weeks as I forgot I had this symptom.

I'd say if it persists after a couple weeks go to the gp or ask not to be signed off from the midwife.
