Side effect of not taking pregnacare or folic acid
I am sure when you have your scan your mind will be put at rest. It’s never too late to start pregnancy vitamins x
The only vitamin that the NHS advise you to take for the duration of pregnancy is vitamin D. Folic acid is up to week 12. Pregnacare is just a brand, so you can use supermarket or own brand vitamins as long as they don't contain vitamin A.
I used Asda own brand pregnancy vitamins as they were almost identical to Pregnacare but half the price.
Hopefully at your scan they can let you know if there's any issues, but it's a good idea to start taking at least the Vitamin D for the rest of your pregnancy. Best of luck
I only found out that I was pregnant at 10 weeks and hadn’t been taking folic acid or any supplements so was terrified that something would happen to the baby, but everything was absolutely fine. Now 25+1 with a baby girl (who is currently kicking me!) I think as long as you eating a vaguely healthy diet you pick up vitamins from all sorts ( I think most breads have folic acid and vit d!) however as soon as I found out I started taking religiously. Also, it’s personal preference but you do t need to take pregnacare, most others generic vitamins will do exactly the same. I take pregnacare liquid but that’s just because I needed the liquid form due to suffering from horrendous sickness in the beginning and swallowing tablets just aggravated it and can’t find another supplier that does liquid.
My little girl is a very healthy and happy 7 week old. I found out I was pregnant at 23 weeks so didn’t take a single vitamin up to then but eat reasonably healthy. I asked a midwife and she said even if I eat a plate of chips all day every day my baby still wouldn’t be effected!
