Forced Eviction Date looming...

Looks like my little on has decided to hang on in there until the last. I'm now 41+3 and counting! Still having loads of tightenings, so much so that I no longer consciously notice a lot of them!

Tomorrow I have a second sweep attempt (following unsuccessful sweep on Mon), but failing that I am due to be induced on Friday. So it'll be good bye to a natural, pool birth we were hoping for at the birthing centre and hello to my second induced birth at the hospital (my 2nd was induced early due to being small for dates).

I know the main thing is that baby is delivered safely, but it is still a little frustrating and unsettling that my pregnancy is due to end this way :-(

Aw, it is horrible to not get to have the birth you want....mine was the complete opposite to what I would have liked. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though that you might start yourself before Friday....you never know your luck! Nice to know you'll have your bubba really soon :D Hope it all goes well for you and looking forward to that baby update ;-) x

Thanks. Yes, I'm so looking forward to giving my little onea ccuddle after so much waiting :-) Will definitely be posting an update when he/she is here x

Oh bless u can't u just ask them to use the tampax thing and if ur body reacts well then to leave u rather than have the drip up at least that way it was just a helping hand.... because ur over ur body may react well... all the best for ur sweep ive got mine tmw too! X

I'm not sure how the hospital will approach the induction, but if they can just use a pessary I agree it would be better. I'm hoping as it's not considered high risk then maybe things won't have to progress too fast?

Good luck with your sweep as well. I was dreading mine, but it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be X

Oh dear... poor you to have gone way over and beyond your due date :-( and nothing worse than having a clear idea in your mind of how your birth is going to be to have it changed at the last minute. On a positive note, this time next week you will no doubt have your little one in your arms :-) good luck dozymum

Thanks, not much longer to wait one way or another:-)

Ah-well :(

As you said I guess the main thing is that the baby is delivered safely into the world but Its not nice when all your original plans go out of the window like that.

Good luck on Friday & I'll be looking forward to your post on the new delivery :)

Don't mean to sound like a stuck record but the induction of labour needs to be your choice not the hospital's. You are meant to be offered induction OR continued monitoring past 42 weeks if you choose (where you go in to check baby and placenta's condition daily or every other day). There is a slightly increased risk of the placenta failing past the 42 week point (hence the routine offer of induction) but not before so if you chose to wait another two days to see if nature took it's course there would be no additional risk. However that would put your induction back to Sunday and Drs don't like to book them in on the weekend... It would be interesting to know whether your unit usually induces at 40+12 or 40+14 and you are being induced earlier because of that - giving up the birth you want so that you are not taking up a weekend seems a bit unfair. I am not saying you should choose to do that, it's none of my business - and you may well feel that you just want to know that you will meet your baby on Friday or Saturday but my point is it doesn't sound like you were offered a choice and IMO that is not really right. If you do decide to go for it I hope all goes smoothly for you (or that baby decides to put in an appearance first). x

I feel your pain. I am in the exact same position as you. I have had 2 sweeps now and nothing has happened and they have booked me to be induced on sunday if she doesnt come before. I too had planned to go to a birthing suite and have a birthing pool and I now feel really deflated that the likelyhood of it happening is so slim. Still, I wish you the best of luck and hope it goes as well as it can.

Ah, I really hope things start to happen for you soon so you can have the birth you want. Best of luck to you as well - hopefully we'll both be cuddling our little ones in the near future x
