Covid Vaccine - Yes or No?

So having had Polymysoitis since 1995, and been advised not to take any vaccines, I have so far avoided that Covid vaccine. But I appreciate the risks that doing that entails. Has anyone got any thoughts / advice?

I’ve had all of the required ones, including the most recent spring one, and none seem to have caused any issues. I did end up with one bout of COVID late last year but it was no worse then a case of the flu. Note: At the time I had had a dose of Ritexmab a month before so. Yes even if Ritexmab they’ll give you the vaccine.

I have necrotising myositis that was caused by taking a statin in 2014. I have never been advised not to take vaccines and in have had all covid vaccines, annual flu vaccines, pneumonia vaccine. Never any ill effects.

I wonder who gave you that advice? Check with your rheumatologist or gp. It makes no sense to me. Before I retired I was a nurse and nurse academic.

So the advice not to have any vaccines, was from my specialist at the time. Combined with the reactions I have had to medications subsequently. The perceived risk outweighing the potential benefit of the vaccines.

Listen to your specialist. Vaccine-injured individual here. Officially diagnosed. They know what they're talking about because of us.

I haven't heard of anyone else being told that. I certainly wasn't and my condition was entirely triggered by the statin. I have had trouble with steroids and a specific antibiotic but those were easily resolved. I have been advised to take all vaccines because of much reduced lung function as a result of myositis putting me at high risk of respiratory problems if infected.

Was advised to NOT take any more vaccines as they've caused the onset of all my symptoms (I've had 2 doses, with adverse effects after the 1st, and became much worse after the 2nd). Would encourage you to listen to the sound advice you've been receiving.

I have had INMN caused by taking Statins and have had all my Covid and Flu vaccines with no problems and in 2022 had Covid which was no worse than mild flu. I have never been advised not to have the vaccine.

I have had heart problems with three stents last year, the Cardiologist wanted to put me on Statins until I told him to talk to my Rhumatologist. He then came up with a new drug Anti PCSK9 called Alirocumab which seems to be working very well reducing my LDL Chloresterol and Triglycerides.
