Help with excess mucus in the throat

Hi I’m Exclimber. Diagnosed with inclusive body myosotis 9 lonely years ago. I take no medicine and the GP surgery doesn’t understand my condition. I have been suffering lately with excess thick mucus in my throat forcing me to try and cough all the time especially in bed.I get no sleep because of this and feel permanently exhausted.

I would really appreciate any help or suggestions . I already take Omprazol for a hiatus hernia.

With thanks

Hi, sounds miserable for you. I have IBM and on IV steroid trial. I suffer from mucus and find it easier sleeping more upright and I try to clear it with non-sugar sweets. You can get mucus thinning meds. Hope this helps

My son had dysphagia when he was first diagnosed with dermatomyositis. He was advised to purchase a mouth exercise piece called IQORO to help. It was money well spent and his swallowing came back quicker than expected. I know this is also recommended for hiatus hernia, which could help your mucus problem. It’s just been approved and is available on the NHS.
