I was diagnosed four weeks ago with DM and it’s moving very fast. Currently in local hospital starting five days of immg.

Major additional problem is swallowing reflex badly effected as is speech. Ideally nil by mouth recommended !!!! To avoid food and liquids in lungs. That’s a step too far for me.

Wondered if any similar cases have surfaced or any advice.

Many thanks. This site is a huge help. Jude

Currently experimenting with purées.

Hi there, I’ve had DM for 4 years now and I’ve been following an autoimmune protocol diet (AIP) for the past two years. It has helped me so much, especially supported my reduction and end to taking steroids. Given me more energy, and less brain fog. Enabling motivation for doing exercise which is very good too!

The protocol is not that easy at first but once you get into it, the benefits are good and quite noticeable in a short period. Basically no processed food at all.

It’s not a cure, but really does help with the reduction of flares and inflammation. I still take mycophenolate moffotil and have IVIG infusions regularly. And I’m in a good place.

Good luck.
