Just started 60mg prednisolone this morning and will be taking a reduced dose over the next seven weeks. How soon do these start working for Myositis? Thanks

Prednisone 60mg will most definitely help very soon. But watch out for those side effects...

Hi Tom37. Here is a link regarding your query on prednisone. nhs.uk/medicines/prednisolone/

It was 7 days for me but I was on a low dose it should work quicker for you.

Hi. I am feeling great thanks for asking and also for your help in reassuring me. I have been able to walk better and even manage some housework as well as go shopping which I haven’t done for months now. I feel great!! How are you doing?

Pretty quickly in my case, at the time I was suffering from myositis of the left extra-ocular eye muscle and it was pushing my eyeball out. At first misdiagnosed by GP as an eye infection (left eye had shut) accompanied by cluster headaches and even at the eye hospital it was thought to be an extremely rare cancer of the eye so I was pushed to the top of the list and treated as a celebrity. After an MRI it was discovered to be Myositis and I was put on steroids, prednisolone, after a short while, my eyelid opened but I was left with double vision, not visible to others but certainly to me so a prism was put on my glasses, nothing short of a miracle really. The prednisolone reduced the muscle by a few millimetres which was enough to halt it in it's tracks but unfortunately due to the misdiagnosis and time delay I am left with scar tissue resulting in double vision lower field and on tiring proper. From time to time I experience shooting pains in that eye and my feeling is that the remaining scar tissue may be pressing on nerves.

The prednisolone should take effect quite quickly, I wish you well.

I was also treated with steroids. This is not uncommon in our time. In General, it is good that there are such methods of treatment. I use steroids to get high. I've used steroids a couple of times to improve my sexual health. Of course, when you use steroids for medical purposes, it is important to adhere to the dosage and doctor's instructions. I order everything on muscle-gear.net , there are many variations of steroids. It is a very convenient site, with good prices, and discounts, and you can also read reviews if you have any doubts. I wish you a speedy recovery, I hope the steroids helped you.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience as well as the reassurance regarding steroid therapy. You certainly have had a journey with this. Have a great holiday and thanks for your best wishes. I am starting to make progress too.

Hi inspireme

I came acrosss your story after I looked for "healthunlocked/how long do steroids take to work for myositis"

And I note that your last reply 4 months ago said you were " making some progress".

That's great!

How are you doing now please?

And are you still on steroids?

As for me, today my GP started me on a trial of 7 days of prednisolone 30 mgs, for "possible myositis" - see my myositis post last week

Thanks
