I have primary progressive, so I have only two relapses since 2009.Last month I had explosive diarrea for about three weeks, it came on as quickly as it left. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Could it have been a relapse of some kind nothing else was effected.

DIARREA

Given that it's MS, I'd say that anything's possible, but I don't really have personal experience. I've certainly dealt with that but just at random times. I've had a number of odd things over the years that occurred for a brief period of time and then went away, and because they were evenly spaced (about 4 years in between) I just assume it's one of those unexplainable MS things.

I cannot say that I had diarrhea that has lasted that long, timberriver . It might be something that has changed in your diet, or a side effect to your medications. Please let your medical professionals know as soon as possible so that you can get to the bottom of what caused this. Let us know what you find out, okay?
Yes! You are lucky it was "only" three weeks.
When you have an autoimmune disease it opens the door to others. Mine is collagenous colitis. The only way it can be diagnosed is a Colonoscapy. When I was diagnosed in 2018 there was no medication okayed by the FDA for it. I didn't take someone's word for it. I was desperate and called them! I was taking 14 Pepto tablets a day! I ate everything as bland as I could to try to get things under control. Horrible experience! Then it went in to remission for four lovely years. It arose again last year. This time the FDA had okayed Budesonide for it. When I noticed it was starting up again, I started myself on Pepto and called the Gastroenterologist. He started me on Budesonide and I had another Colonoscapy. I'm recovered again and praying for another four years of freedom!
So, not MS related but autoimmune related.
I have irritable bowel syndrome, now on the constipation side of things, but it used to be diarrhea. Both types have had negative impacts on my mental health as there is a brain connection so emotions and thinking are affected. I can't imagine a 3 week stint, horrific! I sure hope this was a one time thing and not MS related.
I have not had the experience you've had, thankfully. As Norasmom said, with MS anything is possible, but it seems more likely to have been a viral infection of some sort to me (not a doctor!) You should talk to your doctor about it if you haven't already, though. Perhaps taking a probiotic supplement would be helpful to keep your intestinal flora balanced in the wake of such a disturbance? I sure hope you never have that experience again!
Talk to your neurologist and good luck
3 WEEKS IS MUCH. I´M SORRY, MAYBE IS BECAUSE OF YOUR TREATMENT?
I was wondering how you are doing. I just found an article that in rare cases, Ocrevus can cause serious cases of colitis. The main symptom is watery diarrhea. I hope you're feeling better now, but I thought I would mention it on the off chance that you are on Ocrevus. Be well. 😊
