I have done my fair share of internet searches about this but thought I'd reach out. I'm having a vascular ultrasound on my toes on Monday because the bottoms of my feet have been turning white during and/or after I exercise (spin bike or walk/hike). This just started last month - I wondered if my circulation has taken a turn for the worst after I had two cyst removal surgeries on my left foot (in September and December) but now am wondering if anyone with MS has this symptom. I don't see my neurologist until next month. My GP seems stumped and doesn't think it's Reynaud's. The vascular e-consult doc said he felt it was a 'dysfunction in the autonomic system' ......
I dunno. Anyone else ever have this issue?

I hope you find an answer to your white toes. MS presents us with many mysteries!
I've had issues all my life where the color of my arms and hands changes: sometimes my hands turn bright red, or my forearms are blotched as if I had a rash. These color changes don't last long, they aren't painful or itchy, and my skin isn't warmer than usual. When I've thought to ask about this, my doctors haven't had any answers. Given my age and MS I assume it's a malfunctioning signal somewhere. And since I have Raynaud's I also assume it's triggered in some way.
Your sounds a bit like a form of levido reticularis - especially since you say you've had it all your life and it therefore would pre-date your MS diagnosis.
Wow! What a great article! Ironically I remember having that phenomena on the tops of my thighs when I was in gym class when I was about 13. I am very fair skinned and my friends used to laugh and push their thumbs on top of my thighs to turn them white again… Lol. I’ve seen it more recently when I have a hot cup of coffee, and I took it between my upper arm and my body when I am dinking around on my phone. I have seen that last for a good hour or more after I drink my coffee. I am really not concerned at all but it’s just interesting that there is a name for it.
You have such wide ranging knowledge to share. Thank you. I was sent home from grade school once or twice when teachers thought I had something contagious...but by the time I walked home, it had faded. That article is fascinating, and as AquaZumbaFan says interesting that there is a name for it!
It sounds like you are doing everything that you can to try to figure it out… I am crossing my fingers that everything works out well and it’s just an anomaly. I look forward to hearing about your results from the vascular u/s.
My feet don't turn color but every night, hot out or cold, when I lay down in bed the bottoms of my feet are like ice. If I put my hands on them they feel fine, but internally they are ice.
Ok. So I had the test today, and the results are nothing that I should have googled. Yikes. I'll see what the doc says. My guess is this is not MS related at all......
IMPRESSION:

2. Mild to moderate resting arterial insufficiency involving all 5 left lower extremity digits, generally unresponsive to rewarming.
