This morning I listened to an interesting New York Times podcast that talked about how recent archeological discoveries are revealing the genetic component of why some people get diseases like MS. Here’s a link if you are interested.

There was also a recent NBC news item about a genetic link for MS. Researchers speculate that herding tribes from Central Asia developed immunity to the diseases that plagued their animals and that over thousands of years this protective gene began to attack the hosts (who were no longer sheep and goat herders.) It is interesting to note that when I had my genetic profile analyzed, I carry genetic material from Central Asia. My sister's profile did not include this gene; she does not have MS. This doesn't prove anything, but it's another piece of the puzzle.
Interesting. Thanks for posting.
