I loved both doctors. But my neuro is kind of odd. Even with my records he wants his own MRI to be SURE I have ms! How weird is that? I failed every neuro test I used to pass, such touching my finger to my nose, walkinging on heels, toes, running toe down leg in straight line, squinching my eyes shut. He pulled and pushed and told me to resist, finally I got exasperated and said sir, I cannot! My you, some of my kids are older than him, but I called him sir! And do I have MS? Oh well, I will go along with it, even though he could see I had a lumpar puncture and definitive MRI many times thru the years. Just my update to you. Kelly

One told me once that he was a weird dude working with weird diseases 🤣 I hope you get it soon!

Wow. That seems strange.

It WAS strange! I have been on 8-10 different DMTs over the years , all listed for him. As I said I had my records sent to him, but HE needs to make the diagnosis. I do not know what to think.

Lol. It's really not funny. It doesn't make sense to me.

Hang in there. Maybe others here can give you more insight than I can.

I have seen 9 different neurologist over the 27 years I have been dealing with this a d only 1 decided to do additional testing and that was back in 2002 which that was when I was given the definet diagnosis. Sorry you had to go through all of that. Prayers are with you

Hi ya Kelly. Doctors. I’m so tired of them. Everyone one of them has to make some more money trying to out smart the old drs.

I’ve got to go to my Neuro today to tell him what my Ortho said. He should get a kick out of my fall about 3 steps out of the Orthos office with my first epidural.😅😂😂🤪🤪.

Hope he gets your diagnosis soon. Haha

That happened to me a few years ago. He ran all the blood test again and even made me do ANOTHER lumbar puncture. Then he told me I have MS... duh🙄

Hmm. My neuro had me go for another brain MRI even though she dx me from the one just done. She did admit it’s bc she wanted one from her hospital associated facility bc the imaging quality would be better than the one already done & then it could be used as a baseline as the other wasn’t good enough for her liking she said. How could I disagree as the reason I was seeing her was because of that hospital affiliation vs the other one. And, it made sense-apples to apples, right?

Might your neuro have an alternate reason he doesn’t feel comfortable fessing up to? Maybe something like I just mentioned or an insurance type thing?

I’m wondering the same thing ... maybe n insurance thing. (Of course, I blame everything that goes wrong in our treatments on insurance, so I may be a bit biased)

I hope this just means he is being thorough and follow up appointments won't be so frustrating. When I saw the specialist in Portland, he began at the beginning, too, so to speak. He told me that he needed to confirm that I had MS as opposed to any other disease, which makes sense, since he had never seen me before.

Thanks for letting us know how it went. You're still in my prayers.

When I saw the specialist, he had not received any of my records even though they had been faxed directly to office about a month before. I had the CD of MRI's in hand and had to show him the rest of my records (without dr comments/notes) on my phone. I was sorely disappointed in that process. After viewing the MRIs, he said I had "a touch of MS." He then sent me for a round of bloodwork, some of which had been done already. After reviewing that, he wanted me to start Tysabri because their JCV test was negative, even though the previous JCV test I had was positive. On top of that, monthly infusions would have to be done at their facility which was 2+ hours away.

I obviously declined the Tysabri, on account of PML and the prohibitive monthly travel.

I returned once for followup with Phys Assistant 6 months later, but insurance did not cover it after the appointment because it wasn't authorized in advance. Apparently, the Dr never entered the MS diagnosis code, so insurance thought I had no reason to be there.

I kinda wish he had started fresh from the beginning and repeated everything instead of quickly piecing everything together on the fly.

Doctors, they are a breed of their own, and they have the cheek to suggest we waste their time? Let us know how you get on. Question? How did you manage to run? I would have been flat on my face 😂 Blessings Jimeka 🤗

Not all that unusual that each neuro once their own tests done their own way. I've done them over and over again. I recently switched neurologist because the current neurologist developed said I needed to go to someone better trained. How about that. A neurologist admitting he didn't know it all and someone else was better than he was. His wanting me to go to a different neurologist for better care just pointed out to me why I like the man so much. But again knowing he was good and liking him as much as I did I went ahead and switched neurologist like he suggested. And boy did he know what he was talking about the new neurologist is absolutely brilliant. He did a full-ride scholarship to Harvard. You really knows his stuff when it comes to neurology. Explains things in ways that I understand and he tells me why he wants me to do and try certain things and why he's against others. What's even more amazing is when he does this it makes sense to me. Now I know I'm losing it! LOL! 🤣😉😄🤗👍😁

Is he making money off the additional tests? (Some do you know.) Keep in mind, Amore, that YOU are the one in control. If you wonder why a test is required & you wonder why (Say, you’ve already had 3 MRI’s within the past 12 months.) ask why.

If something doesn’t sound right, ask! Be proactive! Do not be afraid to ask questions; expect answers! We sure didn’t ask for this disease! On the same note we want our doctors to listen to us; not just tell us what to do!

Don’t feel bad. All doctors seem to do that especially specialist like MS doctors. I failed my lumbar puncture test by 100% and they still question it.

I did learn to take the MRI films? from one neuro to the next, because they want to read them themselves, not relying on anyone else's interpretations!

I changed neuros 10 years ago from a MS specialist to a regular neuro and she did her own tests. She said she needed to have a baseline on the equipment that she uses as they all vary. I had an MRI with and without contrast, an EEG & spinal tap. I've been with her ever since. She is on top of everything & up to date on MS. She listens to what I have to say which the other one didn't. He gave me the feeling that I shouldn't know anything about MS & only get info from him. I remember telling him I was having spasms in my diaphram when I would breath in. He told me that was impossible & how did I know it was my diaphram. So I fired him and left.

Maybe there are different types of MRIs. Maybe the one he likes is a special one for MS. I don't know. I understand that there are several diseases where the MRIs look similar and it can be hard to come to a definitive conclusion of MS. My brother spent years with a diagnosis of MS but his last neurologist said that he didn't have MS and gave him a different diagnosis.

I wouldn't want to go through all the testing again but I personally think it's good that he wants to see the results of his own tests.
